Packaging Technician IV
The Packaging Technician IV position is considered an entry-level position for the ACSC factory packaging and warehouse department and the Packaging Technician Program. Individuals in this position must safely perform basic equipment care, operate basic mobile equipment, and operate industrial packaging lines while providing packaging equipment support. The technician performs sanitation and dust abatement duties and completes food safety inspections and documentation. The technician is also required to understand equipment operating principles and fundamentals.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- This position must perform basic equipment care, operate/support basic mobile equipment (forklift, trackmobile), Bulk Loading, industrial packaging lines, and consumer packaging line support.
- Responsible for the packaging of sugar, including machine operations, proper coding, case packaging, palletizing, quality checks, SPC weighing/charting, and sanitation procedures.
- Complies with all current food safety/food quality/HACCP, and GMPs.
- Ensures Regulatory Compliance with FDA and Department of Commerce.
- Perform sanitation and dust abatement duties.
- Check the packaging to make sure all packaged products are correctly coded.
- Perform and document food safety and food quality checks.
- Provide palletizer/wrapper and sugar screening support, as well as stock bags for continuous packaging line operation.
- Operate remelt, dust collection, reclaim, and production toting stations.
- Comply with federal, state, company, and factory safety requirements.
- Comply with federal, state, and company quality standards/policies.
- Operated packaging equipment using control systems and performed basic troubleshooting.
- Identify product or packaging issues resulting from operational issues.
- Use hand tools and basic power tools.
EDUCATION
- High School diploma or a GED certificate is required.
- Individuals must submit to and successfully pass a Safety Screen that evaluates their ability to safely execute this position's duties and tasks.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- One (1) year of manufacturing experience is preferred, although not mandatory.
- Experience and familiarity with packaging and associated line equipment are preferred.
- Experience and familiarity with computerized process control systems and instrumentation are preferred.
- Must be able to use standard tools.
- Must have demonstrated ability in basic computer skills.
ADDITIONAL
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English to comprehend and interpret technical literature, reference material, and understand how to use SDS information.
- Must be a team player who demonstrates initiative and a professional work ethic.
- Must possess good communication and interpersonal skills.
PHYSICAL/COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS:
- Daily activities include standing, bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, squatting/crouching/kneeling, climbing (stairs and ladders), and balancing. Individuals are required to lift assorted items up to 50 pounds individually and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
- Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment, beard and hairnets, and appropriate clothing.
The candidate will be required to submit to and successfully pass a Safety Screen that evaluates their ability to execute the duties and tasks defined for this position safely.
SCHEDULE:
Rotating a 12-Hour DuPont schedule, including both day and night shifts.
